pOetry sUbmission gUidelines:
Poems and video are accepted on an ongoing basis year round. We review all work submitted and will use that which suits the television show format best. Poems and videos are accepted by both regular mail and by email. We are looking for high quality, exciting, entertaining poetry. We welcome creativity, diverse perspectives, backgrounds and voices, and become excited by imaginative or unconventional writers.
We accept all forms of poetry. Haiku, Limerick, prose, free verse, light and traditional verse, avant-garde, fantasy, experimental, real issues and emotions, rhymed or unrhymed. If your poetry moves us, it will move our readers.
We do not encourage unsuitable submissions from writers. Poems containing violence, sex, or vulgarities must be artistically justified, however we will not publish excessive gore, or foul language. Some formats may only be considered for online airing, and may be unsuitable for local community access television. We wish to avoid our program only being aired at the midnight hour, therefore we will not submit certain works for network viewing.
We prefer video submissions to be submitted electronically by email or via a link to the video. Memory cards or memory sticks containing mov files may be submitted to us by mail. Memory card/stick submissions will not be returned unless you enclose a self-addressed, stamped return envelope. Do not send masters.
Written Poetry Selections:
We will ocassionally select and post hard copy poetry submissions online.
Written poetry submissions should be submitted as an individual MS Word attachment or as plain text (ASCII) in the body of your email message, or rich text format (.rtf) file. NO PDF. Please.
Please spell check your work and proof read thoroughly prior to submitting. Poems should be double-spaced, and under 40 lines in length. Longer works should be submitted as fiction.
Email does not always submit with special character recognition. If you have any notes about formatting, for example words you would like to italicize, please put those notes at the very bottom of your submission. If submitting by email, please submit only one poem per email, and not more than five poems per month. Please attach a short 3rd person bio at the end of your submission. Bio should be only a brief paragraph. If you are accepted as featured poet, you may be requested to forward an expanded bio, be interviewed by phone, and/or to submit a photo.
